Still snowing....

its not sticking but its still snowing this morning...heard that Greer got 12 inches of new snow! this is just sooo crazy and bazaar!

Unbelievable!!

We received about 2 inches of very very heavy snow tonight! just unreal! We lost power for several hours too due to the heavy snow on the power lines...just a few days ago it was 85 here and 110 in the valley and today it snows! its suppose to snow more tomorrow and tomorrow night! I'm still just in shock...graduation had to be moved inside tonight obviously...but not because of rain! they are predicting 12-18 inches above 8000 feet...we are at about 7000 feet.
Even though graduation was tonight...all the kids (except the seniors) have to go to school tomorrow to make up for an extra snow day we had to use earlier in the year. We were joking with Taylor tonight telling her that if they have a snow day tomorrow they will have to go back to school on Tuesday! she was NOT happy! unless we get alot more tonight i don't think that would happen..but it would sure be interesting!

American Idol

That was sure fun to watch....
but i have to tell what happened..this was kind of funny but might not have been funny at all....earlier today i was thinking...i bet idol will go over their time slot?? (i taped it so we could all sit down and watch it together after everyone got home last night) so we were watching it and it gets right to the part where Ryan opens the envelope and says...the winner of American idol 2008 is....... and then my dvr stopped!!!!!!! my family was sitting there with stunned looks on their faces (because the actual program has been over for like an hour now) and i piped up and said....arn't ya glad i decided to tape the next show?...ah what relief...so we went to the next show and watched the end of idol....what a great end....i would have been happy with either winning and Archie will be just fine I'm sure! he will have several offers before the day is over I'd bet

then i found out that i must not have been the only one this happened to!!!

‘American Idol’ Fans Complain: TiVo Ruins Finale–Again!
By Tom Weber, Wall Street Journal

“The winner is . . . David . . .” Argh!
That’s how last night’s “American Idol” finale wrapped up for some viewers who had taped the show on TiVos and other digital-video recorder devices. Because “Idol” ran slightly long, some DVRs cut off the show before the winner was revealed–leaving those viewers hanging at the most suspenseful moment.
The poorly timed cutoff has become something of a tradition for the Fox program. Viewers who timeshifted the show with DVRs were denied the climactic moment last year, too.
If anything, this year’s incident was worse. The “Idol” finale came down to two contestants, both named David. Some viewers report that their DVRs stopped recording just after host Ryan Seacrest uttered the words, “The winner, by 12 million votes, of ‘American Idol’ 2008 is . . . David” -- but before he revealed the last name. (The winner was David Cook, who bested David Archuleta.)
How can this problem be avoided? If Fox fails to ensure that the show ends as scheduled, DVR owners must pad their recording times to catch the overrun. That’s a common tactic for recording football games and other live shows of indeterminate length, but it isn’t usually needed for regularly scheduled primetime programming. (Fox is owned by News Corp., which also owns Dow Jones & Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal and this blog.)

End of the school year...

Well school is winding down for this year....we have been extremely busy trying to keep up with all the end of year activities. Last Saturday we had our closing orientation with our exchange kids and that was alot of fun..its always sad when they go but its fun looking forward to a new chapter in their lives and a new one in ours with the new kids that will be coming in about 8 weeks or so.
Noah and Sawyer are playing baseball and Rich is their coach this season..they have improved so much in just the last year or so and can really hit the ball and seem to really have their heads in the game. Rich is a great coach and he is really enjoying doing that.
Quade has had a bunch of fun field trips and is really doing well in school and he and his aid are looking forward to being at the brand new school next year...they have a great new director/teacher and a great new classroom where they can do more hands on life skills kinds of things.
Taylor is just growing up so fast that its frightening! LOL but she has turned into the best babysitter and helper a mom could ask for...her temperament has changed and she is more "likable" LOL which is kind of weird because i always thought they got worse when they were teenagers not better....but boy am i NOT complaining!!!
Austin "graduated" again yesterday from his super seniors group at school. He walked in the graduation ceremony last year with the class that he grew up with but he did not receive his diploma. He will continue on in the high school through his 22nd year unless plans change somewhere along the way depending on his interests. But at the end of every year they have a ceremony for just the kids in his special class so they get to wear their cap and gown and its a very nice ceremony. He will receive his diploma when he is all finished up at the high school..but more importantly (to him) he was told in the ceremony that he will receive a life time athletic pass to all the athletic events at the school for the rest of his life because he is one of the best fans in history!
Hayden had his closing banquet for track last night...it was very nice and we had a nice dinner and they had a video presentation and awards. He received an award for most improved in the field events and now has another shinny plaque to hang on the wall...He working at papa johns delivering pizza. And he is getting ready for a busy summer with football camps.
and last but not least...Brittnee....(she has her own blog now so you can check that out if you would like) she is doing fantastic and is absolutely loving her new job. She loves working with the boys and the horses and says she is learning more then she has at any other job. She loves the people she works with and is making alot of new friends. She has found herself a "new man" and she seems to be head over heels for him. We have spent some fun time getting to know him through emails...luckily he has a good sense of humor to put up with all the crazy questions we have been asking him..and if all goes as planned we will meet him over the 4th of July weekend.
ok...so that is the latest update from the Jones'

mOnKeY bOy

Crazy Sawyer....this kid loves....i mean LOVES his monkeys. For Christmas last year we got him some PJ's with monkeys on them and he LIVES in them on the weekends. This morning he said to me..i cant wait to get home from school today so i can put my monkey pajamas on and leave them on allllll day tomorrow!

He LIVES for Friday's just so he can wear these PJ's

He puts them on and sleeps in them and then plays in them all day on Saturday. Even putting his jeans on over his PJ's so he can go out to play.. but many times he just goes out to play in his PJ's!!! The neighbors must think he is NUTS! (or maybe that we are nuts for letting our 8 year old run around the neighborhood in his PJ's!!??)

I wash them after Saturday and then he wont wear them all week just to save them for Friday again...Because there is always that chance that if he does wear them during the week they might not get washed before Friday and that would be devastating.

He IS a silly monkey boy!

State Finals

Well it turned out pretty good. Hayden took 7th place in the finals for discus at state . He was a bit disappointed that he did not do better but i reminded him to look at where he was for goodness sake! I did not think that being 7th in all of the state for 3A schools was anything to be upset about...especially since it was his first year ever trying this. All in all it was a great day..the Blue Ridge girls track team took 1st place overall (total team points for all 3A schools in the state) and the boys took 2nd place.
